My classroom is full of wonderful young learners. It is a diverse community, and our classroom has 18 English Language Learners. We have a wide range of abilities and personalities. All of the students work so beautifully together and truly enjoy being at school. As a class, we are fully inclusive and have a few students with IEPs and 504 plans. The students are always so appreciative of any supplies that enter the classroom and take good care of them.
We are a part of the largest elementary school in our district, serving over 700 students each year.
Our project will be a part of a common learning space that will be used by the entire student body throughout the year. We are hoping to create an area for hands-on learning and exploration.
Our First Grade is the largest number of First Graders in the District. We have over 100 first graders and we share three garden boxes. We are working on growing our science unit on Plants and Animals. Using the garden boxes is part of that science unit. We have as teachers provided gardening tools for the grade level to use but we have no where to store them safely.
This bench would allow us to store the gardening tools in a safe location where all five first grade classrooms can use them.
We have used a lot of teacher resources to make the garden a magical space for students. A bench would make the garden area more of an outdoor classroom as well.
