My students need benches to have more durable seating options for their school garden.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are kind, loving, hardworking, inquisitive, perhaps sometimes rambunctious or a little mischievous 2nd graders. Furthermore, they come from families that are humble, deserving and thankful. Our school is a Title I school in an urban area where the majority of our students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds and receive free meals and other services. The school supports the whole child through a series of programs. Our population is diverse and growing. The school and our district have seen significant increases, having grown to be the fifth largest in the nation. The students are predominantly English language learners.
Our school strongly believes in nurturing respect and a love of learning with our students, partnering with their families, and reaching out to the surrounding community.
Together we work hard to maximize resources and grow our community, allowing our community to strive for every student’s success.
This project is one with school-wide beneficence, our amazing school garden needs more seating for the students to use when working in the school garden. This space is one that is used by all grade levels and is even used with our after school program. Students could use these benches when collecting seeds, preparing dry materials for composting and even journaling about their observations from the school garden. My vision is to have students rotate to the garden benches from other activities to allow for the additional cross curricular activities that will provide more academic stimulus and enrichment for students.
