Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a Title I campus in Texas. We excel in a low income/high poverty area. Roughly 90% of our students receive free/reduced price lunch. We are comprised of ESL, Sped, Dyslexic and Advanced Learners. Our demographics include mostly Hispanic and African American children.
They have a passion for learning and a thirst for knowledge that is truly inspiring.
They desire to further themselves academically. We regularly set and reach attainable goals concerning their most recent testing data. My kiddos amaze me!
My Project
My school garden club has worked tirelessly over the past year to rejuvenate our little garden. We started the school year out by creating a small rock garden with the garden club to excite the kids about building and using an outdoor learning space. Each child was given the opportunity to decorate their very own rock and place into our garden!
We want to expand that excitement by increasing our rock garden with fertilizer and rocks.
We are asking each child enrolled in our school to decorate and a rock in the garden. Our students take pride and ownership of spaces when they are given ample opportunity to create and care for learning environments!
