I teach in a unique Montessori magnet program at a Title I school. My students work hard to master the math and social studies skills that I teach them.
In addition to learning in the classroom, my students maintain a school garden that gives kids throughout the whole school a peaceful place to eat lunch and have outdoor lessons.
My students enjoy working in the garden, but every year we struggle to find funding - especially for the big items that we need.
A new hose and spray nozzle will enable my students to water the garden more efficiently. Our current hoses leak and are not long enough to get the job done well.
The handheld garden tools will allow for more students to get involved with the work that we do and gain valuable experience about how to plant, maintain, and harvest vegetables and plants in the fall, spring, and summer months.
My students beam with pride when they take home the vegetables and flowers that they help grow. Without support from donors, we could not maintain the garden at the level that we do and involve the number of students that we do!
