Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Over the last couple of years, I have noticed the excitement that the students have when they are in gardening class. I want to be able to give this excitement and joy to the whole school. The students love being able to go into the garden and get their hands dirty. The hard work that they put in flipping the soil, preparing it for new seeds has been a very rewarding experience. The students are able to understand that gardening takes a process from point A all the way to point D.
My Project
I am requesting raised garden beds, potting soil and seeds. Three years ago, I started a garden from the ground up with the help of my site administrator. It has become an enormous success, and the students have enjoyed experiencing gardening class. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing the joy on my students' faces when they see the different varieties of fruit and vegetables growing from the seeds they have planted.
My goal is to expand the garden and create an expansion so that the whole school can have a green space where they can come in and enjoy the scenery.
