Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a Title I teacher and athletic coach in Texas. Being a Title I School, most of our students come from low-income households. They, unfortunately, do not get much support from home as some of their parents simply cannot help them.

Most recently our school and community were hit hard by Hurricane Harvey.

We have students who are still displaced, and some just now getting back into their homes. Our athletes are utilizing their chosen sport as an outlet to get away from the hardships they have gone through.

My Project

This project is to add additional items to what I previously got funded for our tutorial rewards program. I have started a tutorial rewards program for our department and so far it has been a huge success. If my students come in for tutorials to either catch up on work or get extended help they will get rewarded. So far the results have been great. Not only are more kids showing up for tutorials but they are also seeing the value in the tutorials. But we do need a few more items to help keep up with the increase in students showing up.

This project allows my students to be rewarded with fun activities and games.

In this project are vertical stands and charging stations for a PS4 and X-Box. Plus 3 extra PS4 controllers. We also need gaming headsets for X-Box and PS4 so kids can communicate with each other. We also need Fifa 18 for both X-Box and PS4. This is a great game the kids will love to play.

Also in this project is a director's chair for our students to sit while playing the games. We also need replacement covers that come in navy, blue, orange, tangerine, red, yellow, pink, and purple.

In this project is a fun interactive version of the popular game show Family Feud. Other games include Risk, Battleship, Operation, Clue and Monopoly.

We also need a decks of cards, Mouse Trap, Star Wars Monopoly, Game of Life, Disney Monopoly, Star Wars Risk, and Chutes and Ladders.

The last games include Candy Land, Connect 4, Jumanji, Uno, cards, and Jenga. These games will keep my students busy having fun.

To help secure things we will need zip ties, plus 3 power strips to plug battery chargers in.
