My students need an Osmo game/learning system. Osmo is an award-winning game system that will change the way children interact with the iPad by opening them up to hands-on play and learning.
My students are a diverse bunch. We are an after school program at an elementary school in LaFayette, GA. Our class consists of 45 boys and girls of various ages (4-12). Some students are here daily and others are 'drop ins' and may only come once per week. We average 28 students per day in our program.
The goal for our after school program is to provide academics with play to make the students' extra time at school beneficial and fun.
Some of our students are with us until 6:00 in the evening each day. Eleven hour school days are long for anyone, but is even longer for the little ones so it is very important that their time with us is both structured and entertaining.
My Project
Osmo is an award-winning game system that will change the way our students interact with the iPad by opening them up to hands-on play. We have selected programs that enhance math and reading skills, science and S.T.E.M. skills as well as promote interactive play. This system will be used during stations and small groups each day to offer students a new adventure in learning. Some of our students are at school until 6:00 in the evening each day. This makes for a very long school day for these little ones. We hope that adding new programs and exciting games will help keep them focused and engaged during this extended time. The Osmo will allow students to use their creativity and imagination while learning in a fun new way. Oftentimes it is difficult to plan games and activities for our class because we have such a variety of ages. We have students from pre-k through 5th grade in our after school program. The Osmo is great because it can be modified to offer a differentiated learning experience for all of our students regardless of age.
