My Students

How can we use games to encourage perseverance and engagement? This question will be at the heart of our work as students find fun and engaging ways to facilitate confidence, purpose, and an integrated sense of mission by playing games. We want all of our students to be so engrossed in collaboration that they feel the freedom to fail and try again without negative repercussions. Students develop skills playing games that increase their emotional and social awareness and this is rewarding as they learn in relationship to others. Our students are passionate individuals who want to share the joy of game playing. What better way to encourage community than to introduce students to games and encourage them to invite other students to be part of a large, joyful group motivated to learn and form new friendships.

Our students are optimists who are part of a game-playing social-fabric, engaged in productivity, and on the lookout for epic meaning.

They love to play games and spend time together. Their game playing will build community through participation and encourage one another to practice, to overcome, and persevere.

My Project

We all love to play games. We want to foster that love of games and give students in the library permission to make their learning and time accessible and engaging. We want all students to have their interest captured and inspire them to keep trying and persevere. We want to transform our library environment into a space of games and activities that deepen students' experiences together. It will require creativity, collaboration, and play to induce learning. The games we have chosen encourage strategic thinking and problem-solving and all members of our community can play. Because we know games shape our identity as people and learners we want students to have opportunities to play as many games as possible. Games are a familiar language that all students speak, this is another way to encourage communication- through games!
