Our students are unique because of the diversity found within our classroom. I currently teach inclusion and regular geometry with my co-teacher, Ms. B!
My classroom is a place for diverse students to learn and grow into young adults with the skills to thrive in our ever-developing world.
These students come from a variety of cultural, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school is almost all low income, with students from all around the world. Thirty-nine percent of our students are English Language Learners as well.
We have been named the most diverse school in the state of Arkansas. Our goal is to provide every possible advantage for our students to develop the skills necessary to become as successful as they can be, regardless of how their disabilities may try to hinder them.
My Project
There are many times in our classroom that our students need a brain break from the normal classroom routine. Rather than lose this valuable time, we want to use this time for an educational brain break to teach valuable mathematical and financial literacy skills.
Strategic games stimulate brain development in children and support many of the problem skills we learn in class.
Board, card, and other types of games also have a great impact on collaborative/team building efforts in our classroom. These games will provide students with the opportunity to learn while playing fun and engaging games.
These games will allow students to spend "free time" learning valuable mathematical skills to carry them into adulthood.
