My students need board games they can play inside on days that it is cold, raining or too hot to have outdoor recess. We would like Battleship, Guess Who, Scrabble, Uno, Memory, Jenga, Clue, Checkers, and Connect 4.
My students are growing up in the same little town I grew up in. We live in a well-known community and you probably see our name every time you step into the grocery store.
Although our little town is well-known, we still have a very low income community and most of our parents work at one of the two factories located here.
Most students have limited access to books in their homes and only read when they are at school. They are very smart and love to learn!
My Project
Board games are a good way to help students learn to follow directions. Many times, when students work on an assignment they skip over the directions of the assignment and go straight to working on it. This can cause a problem because they sometimes complete the worksheet incorrectly. By playing board games, students learn that it is important to first read the directions in order to play the game accurately and fairly.
Board games are excellent tools to help teach students socialization skills.
It helps them learn how to work together with other children in order to complete a task.
