Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work with some very interesting and enthusiastic kids in one of the toughest areas of Chicago. Working in L. V., I teach 2nd/3rd graders, a good percentage of them not being on grade level. As an educator, I want to help these kids reach their fullest potential, especially for those students that don't have much support at home.
I have been fortunate enough to have students that WANT to come to school to learn and they work hard to achieve their goals.
My students live in a tough neighborhood where they are already dealing with circumstances beyond their control. My school and surrounding area is predominately Latino, low-income and all students receive a free lunch. Please help me help build their skills so that they can achieve their highest potential.
My Project
I teach third grade math, but I have students in a variety of learning levels. Some students are quick learners and can do multiplication, while a few are still working on addition and subtraction. The Snap It Up! games will help with this.
Students need to start making real-world applications so that is where the Real Events and Edupress Math Noodlers games come in.
As educators, we are ultimately trying to prepare our kids for real world situations and how to problem solve.
In addition, I would love to be able to quickly display student work for the whole class to see and review. The document camera will provide students with the opportunity for quick and hands-on review. Students can come to the document camera to point, solve, and explain in a clear and concise voice that will also promote public speaking skills. This way, students are getting a well-rounded experience.
