My Students
The students I have the pleasure of teaching are a diverse group of children living in a high poverty city where many of the families are economically disadvantaged. My students work extremely hard despite the challenges they face. Further, they fight hard to disprove the many stereotypes that follow them growing up in the inner city. They don't ever complain about what they don't have. Instead, they are resourceful and do the most with what they do have.
My students and I are not looking to get a handout or to be looked down on for what they don't have.
Instead, we want an opportunity to dream big and see those dreams become a reality. My kids are incredibly talented children who I am honored and privileged to educate. They have a love and passion for learning that I want and need to foster.
My Project
The resources in this project are meant to not only reinforce the curriculum but to get students engaged and participating. From the Math or ELA bingo games that will help students think quick on their feet to the ELA board games, my students will be working on some ELA and math skills.
School should not just be worksheet after worksheet after worksheet.
That is boring and does not hold students attention. Including a game day once a week based on the skills student need can not only help students to understand and apply the information they have learned throughout the week, but it will also give them something positive and fun to look forward to after a long week.
