In our classroom we work hard to improve as confident, skilled, self-motivated learners. Collaborative and cooperative learning consistently takes place in the classroom. The classroom is about nurturing the whole student and supporting them in their journey to become a global citizen.

My students are an enthusiastic, energetic, passionate group of students who come from all walks of life. They are constantly trying to better themselves and the world around them. The school community is incredibly supportive of nurturing students to be critical and creative thinkers. The students are always up for a challenge and work hard to solve any problem that is set in front of them. Our school is a collaborative environment for both students and staff. The staff works hard to guide students in making connections between subjects. We want students to see learning as a whole, not as individual subjects that are not connected.
My Project
Twice a month we have clubs during school hours. This allows for all students to be part of a club that interests them regardless of transportation in the afternoon. I host a club that works on logic and strategy through board games.
I'm requesting a variety of board games including Suspend, Battleship, Sumoku, Dragonwood, Uno, Boggle, Zeus on the Loose, Clue, Qwixx, Skiwampus, and Iota.
These board games will provide students the opportunity to work with peers in solving problems, work to follow directions, and allow for students to build relationships with each other in a low stakes situation. During this time students have an hour of screen-free time and are encouraged to have conversations about school, after-school activities, and life. We want to provide students with the experience of persevering through games and creating memories with their friends.
