My Project

Many students have spent the last year or more with minimal opportunities for social interactions outside of their family circle. This has been made abundantly clear by how much my students have been struggling with their problem solving skills and positive interactions this school year. We are doing formal social emotional learning in my classroom in order to remediate this deficit and my hope is to utilize board games as a means to practice those skills.

Board games provide ample opportunity for children to practice life skills like patience, sharing, collaboration, handling disappointment, and problem solving.

Your contributions to this project would help to provide a variety of games for students to choose from to practice these skills in a fun way. Some games are collaborative, so either they all win or all lose, while others are competitive. Some games have academic basis, while others are simple fun. All of these games will provide opportunities for immediate application of social emotional lessons from our classroom.
