This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My classroom consist of 25 students. Twenty out of twenty-five students are below the target goal at the 4th grade level. In addition, there are 5 newcomers to the United States whose families are refugees, and fled their countries because of ongoing wars. Every child has capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. The students in my class strive for excellence. They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.
My Project
My students want to learn to through games. My class is limited and only have several games and flashcards. The games will provide the opportunity for my students to play while learning. In addition, during down time, like waiting in line, the flashcards will be used to support my students with math and reading fluency. As they progress, they will become more confident and participate more in class. The educational games will play many roles in the fourth grade for my students. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to learn while playing. Also, the games will also help develop fluency in math and reading. This will enhance the environment not only in the classroom this year, but my students will be better prepared for the fifth grade and beyond.
