My students need games like Q-Bitz, Colorku, Roller Coaster Challenge, Equate, Rubik’s Race Game, Pivit, and Rush Hour Shift to meet their critical thinking and logical reasoning needs.
Intelligent, creative, kind - these are the three words that come to mind when I think about my students. Helpful, generous, appreciative - these are the three words I think of when I think of their families. We are residents of an island that resides in a historically rich city that has been inhabited for more than 450 years.
My students have a variety of diverse backgrounds and experiences that not only make them unique, but also unified.
Our school is an important part of our small, close-knit community. Many of our parents were students at our school growing up and are now sending their own children.
My Project
Games are a great way to learn and develop strategic, logical, and critical thinking skills. I teach gifted, high achieving learners who need challenging and engaging activities outside the curriculum to meet their brains’ desires. Many of my students have learning plans that require the use of logic and word puzzles in addition to working on real life problem scenarios.
Educational games will help me meet the needs of my bright bunch and will make our classroom an exciting, challenging environment.
My students will have something to look forward to when we use these games weekly. I have seen games like these in action and trust me when I tell you, there is no boredom happening when they are in use. Games like Colorku help students strategize and plan. The Roller Coaster Challenge game teaches physics while being super fun. Games like Q-Bitz, Square Up, and Pivit teach creativity and allow for trial and error.
In addition to meeting the intellectual needs of my class, these resources will help my students develop a “Growth Mindset.” Games like Suspend and Block by Block will inevitably have failures along the way, but students will learn resilience and work to succeed. I can think of few better skills than these for our future leaders.
