I am excited to be providing educational experiences to at-risk four and five year-old children in a free prekindergarten classroom. These kiddos are creative, curious, and eager to learn. Many of our students are overcoming odds, as all of our students come from low-income households, and many come from traumatic backgrounds.
We strive to provide opportunities that our at-risk students may not otherwise have, or be able to enjoy.
We are eager to create life-long learners, through thoughtful instruction, and materials, both in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.
"Learning through play" is a concept that I believe in 100%. In order for children to find reading and math fun, children must learn it through fun ideas and games. The requested materials will allow the children in our class to learn the alphabet and mathematical concepts through the use of games. Many of these games also all the children to practice fine motor skills, to hone their writing skills as well. I look forward to allowing them to play these games with their friends and with us, the teachers, during choice time. I also look forward to planning lessons that involve playing these games and working with children on their individual goals.
I believe that these at-risk children should be allowed to learn the alphabet and mathematical concepts, and practice their fine motor skills in a safe, friendly environment with games that are age-appropriate and make learning fun.
Please consider donating to our project, to offer these wonderful children, and many more children in the future, the opportunity to learn in a fun and exciting way... with Games!
