My students need financial literacy board games that they can not only play in the classroom but they can take as home as well. This will encourage parent involvement.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are from a high poverty area. Every day I see that these are very determined and intelligent students.
As a new teacher, I am still adding to my classroom.
By playing games such as a Monoploy and Life, it would give them real world experience. They would play these games in class and have fun while also learning about financial literacy. They will learn real life concepts such as savings and investments. I will allow these games to go home so they can play games with their families as well as learn financial literacy.
My Project
My students will use the board games both at school and at home. The students will be able to take them home with the canvas tote bags. This will encourage family involvement that promotes financial literacy as well as family bonding time. The game of Life and Monopoly teach students real life financial situations.
My students often do not have the funds to have a family game night at home.
By allowing these game boards to go home, this will encourage parents to play with their student. These board games are appropriate for 5th graders and will instill financial literacy in their minds while they are having fun!
