Help me give my students entertaining books, educational games, and noise-muffling headphones to help them have fun while learning and focus when they need to!
My second and third grade special education students, many of whom are also English Language Learners or from low-income households, have a variety of educational needs and unique abilities.
My students are brilliant kids who love learning and exploring the world around them.
A number of these awesome kiddos have ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, and other learning difficulties that make it difficult for them to learn without specialized supports. I want to help empower my students to be independent learners and to help them access both the general education curriculum and gain valuable life skills.
My Project
Due to their various learning needs, my second and third grade students are not only learning academic skills, but they are also working to learn valuable social skills as well. Educational games will provide my students with an engaging way to learn academic skills while also working on important social skills such as turn taking, dealing with frustration, and working together. In my classroom, we also use picture books to practice decoding, work on comprehension strategies, and build knowledge of social kills. Noise-muffling headphones are essential for many of my students who have sensory needs and attention difficulties when working in noisy settings.
