Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I just finished up my first year of teaching. I teach 2nd grade at a Title I school in a large city. A large portion of my students come from lower income homes.
This is a class of curious and adventurous students who are eager to learn.
They are a competitive bunch, and love to play against other students in partners or groups for the win. My students are always wanting to learn and they love reviewing what they learn with fun games and activities.
My Project
I have purchased some math and language arts station games and activities that I am going to be using in my learning stations next year. They will be used to review and practice concepts that we are learning or have learned about.
Using fun games to review seems to help them remember more information and they love them.
My students have really enjoyed getting to use task cards and some review games this year. Now that I know how much my students liked them, I will be making more for my class next year to make reviewing content more fun and engaging.
I like to laminate as many of my materials as possible to protect them so that I can use them as long as possible. I also like to have dry erase markers with them so that if a student needs to work out the problem, they can do so on the back, and then erase it. I would also love to have a few board games so that I can recreate the game cards with the review material on them for a very fun way to review with a group of students.
