We are a Title I school with a population of 94% students on free/reduced price lunch and 74% of students as English-language learners. My students are future presidents, mayors, scientists, mathematicians, and even teachers. I have the honor to teach in such a diverse district that values each other as family. My students are inquisitive learners who love learning through the act of playing. They are curious of the new experiences they are about to learn in a safe and nurturing environment.
My Project
My students have shown interest in using games to enhance their academic learning and acquiring social skills. I teach second graders who need opportunities to grow in reading and math skills. I have witnessed positive interactions between my students during centers while they got their learning on. These games will encourage my students to practice their literacy and math skills in a fun and interactive way. These games will also give my students the chance to grow socially in a safe and nurturing environment. Lastly, my students will get a chance to practice skills that I teach in whole group with their classmates.
