Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are very bright and eager-to-learn kindergartners who attend a public school in the heart of the city of Chicago in the Humboldt Park Area. All of the students receive free lunch, and our school district is making record breaking and heartbreaking cuts to the budget. The students are truly suffering. The majority of students in our school are below grade level and also below poverty level. They come from homes where education is not a priority, but they come to school ready and eager to dive right in and learn.
My Project
My students are very energetic kindergartners who needs lots of motivation and positive reinforcement. They need time to socialize with each other, build their social skills, build team work and cooperation, build fine motor skills and just have fun. My students could really use games to use during their earned free time. This will motivate students to be engaged throughout the day and socialize during their free time and work together to play fun games. Kindergartners need time to unwind and what better way to do that than with awesome board games to play with their peers? We need floor puzzles, early skills games, and fine motor skills games. These board games will be used during their earned free time to be with their friends and work on much needed socializing skills to build a culture of team work and cooperation that will last them for years to come.
