My Students
Greetings! I am the Instructional Technology Coach at the amazing BSE where we are “Building a Community of Leaders.” We are a Title I school located in rural South Carolina. After 20 years in education, I am excited for this new journey and all the learning opportunities it will bring. I know that working with students in kindergarten through 5th grade will bring challenges that will strengthen us all. Welcome to our STEM adventure and fasten your seat belts for the ride!
If there is one lesson that I have learned, it is not to place my own limitations on my students.
When you serve students in a high need, high poverty area, every advantage has the potential to be life-changing. No matter what challenges our students may face in life, they come to school ready to learn and eager to explore.
My Project
Creating a STEM lab in our school is a wonderful way to encourage learning opportunities that include science, technology, engineering, and math. Students will have an environment where they can investigate, create, and let their minds soar. There will be many activities for the students to explore including Osmo games, Ozobot activities, board games, and creative discussion.
In the lab, students will be encouraged to improve their 21st Century learning skills - collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking through fun games and activities.
Students will have the flexibility to move around and be comfortable while learning. Whether building, creating, or coding, students will have opportunities in the STEM lab that will challenge their creative minds. These games will be a great source for introducing or reinforcing the ISTE computer standards. We are preparing our students to be future ready...Now.
