My Students
Formed in the summer of 2017, Pre-K at Rondo serves eighty four and five-year-olds, many from low-income households in the Rondo/Saint Paul area. Our program was formed thanks to a generous grant from our Governor. Our school strives to put students first. Students develop self-confidence through their accomplishments and a sense of empowerment to pursue their dreams.
Our school succeeds in closing the achievement gap in the multicultural community through the delivery of rigorous curriculum and an individualized learning plan for each student.
My Project
On of our biggest goals in Pre-K is to increase our students independence. Whether it be at lunch on the playground or playing in the classroom, we strive to prepare our students to be ready for the independence of kindergarten.
Throughout the day, my students have opportunities to do things themselves; it helps them to see our classroom as a community and to see themselves as valuable members of our class.
I purposely incorporate toys and activities into my class that promote this sense of independence. As we get closer to the end of the year, I try to add more things into my room for students to do on their own. This project will help me supply some of these items for my students.
