Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I am a proud educator in a very low-income school district. Some of the students are faced with many challenges in and outside of the classroom. There are some students in my class who face learning disabilities and don't necessarily learn as fast or even at the level they should, and these disadvantages are keeping them from getting ahead. Every moment of the day, I'm thinking of creative ways to keep them focused and engaged. I am hopeful that they will all join the others on the road to academic success!

My Project

I am requesting laundry detergent for my class so that I can help make sure that my students' uniforms are clean and fresh. The majority of my students are homeless or live in low income areas where having clean clothes is not a necessity to them! Many parents complain about not having extra money to do laundry or buy detergent to rinse items out with their hands.

Our school is equipped with a stackable washer and dryer that is available for teachers to use for this very purpose.

But the thing is that buying detergent continuously gets really expensive! I'm seeking help for my class to make sure that they stay fresh and clean.
