My students need an assortment of gadgets and knickknacks like crayons, coloring books and fidget toys to use for stress relief when dealing with anxiety.
I work with a variety of students who come from different walks of life. Some of my students are in foster care because of neglect or abuse, some live with relatives because their parents are incarcerated, some live with single moms or dads who are struggling to make ends meet, and some live in traditional homes where a mom and dad are present and involved in their kids lives.
Even though we are all different and have experienced different obstacles in our lives, we are all alike in that we are WARRIORS.
Our school is our safe haven and within these four walls, we are family.
My Project
The counselors at my school have an incredible new counseling suite that the students love!! It is a place that is safe and welcoming for all who enter. Unfortunately, our space is not well stocked with gadgets that provide relief for students who need it.
We need help stocking our counseling space with gadgets and knickknacks that promote the health and well-being of our students.
The items chosen will help calm and relax students who are feeling anxious and stressed. I have included fidget sensory toys that kids can play with when they are feeling agitated and need an outlet to release their tension. I've also included journals, colors, and sketch books for students who have an artistic flair and find drawing and coloring as a peaceful outlet. Whether kids find relaxation in coloring the pages of a coloring book or playing with a stress ball, these items will be readily available to give support wherever it is needed.
