Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kindergarten classroom is part of a TK-5th grade STEM prep elementary school that supports the learning of over 1,200 students. My students come from a variety of economic backgrounds; many of which have their own challenges. Over 85% of our student population qualifies for free or reduced lunch.

As a STEM kindergarten teacher, I want to create an enriched environment to foster their critical thinking and curiosity skills at a young age.

I hope this excitement will encourage them to shoot for the stars; each one of them has the potential to become an astronaut, a doctor, or an engineer! Their future begins NOW in my classroom!

My Project

Three additional iPads in my classroom will ensure that my kindergarten students have increased opportunities to utilize technology in small and whole group settings.

These iPads will provide access for my students to online components of our math and languages arts curriculum, as well as an introduction to computer science through coding using apps such as ScratchJr and Kodable.

I am excited to be a part of the adventure my students will be taking with technology this year as they develop a greater appreciation for technology as it is integrated into STEM. We can't wait to get started. My students will be very eager to use this this new technology in our classroom to its fullest as they explore the endless possibilities within STEM!
