My students are hardworking, curious nine and ten year old fourth graders. They are Washingtonians who spend 5 to 6 days a week, yes some Saturdays too, working to achieve academic success at a Title I school in a large urban community. You can find us in our classroom learning math and science from 8:45 a.m. until 5:45 p.m. My students are two classes of around 20 students, whose needs range from English language learning, autism, ADHD, and other special learning needs. My students are the future, and they are full of energy and curiosity.
My Project
My students need Non fiction books to study science. Many of my students are learning English or below grade level in reading, and struggle to learn science concepts by reading from a science textbook. My students are curious and eager to learn new concepts. The Exploring Sound, Learning about Landforms, Light and Sound waves up,close and Physical Science book sets will bring science to life. The light and color activities kits will help my students explore the basic concepts of physical science. With the daily science book and interactive note books students will be able to apply their knowledge.
Once my students get their hands on these STEM concepts they will be able to better connect to reading passages.
