Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Nine students in my class are English Learners, one receives special services, and one is in speech.
My students are smart, hardworking young people who search for new information everyday. They have compassion for one another and strive to make meaningful contributions to our classroom community.
My heart is with these children who come from an impoverished, rural area with little resources outside of school. These children rely on me to ignite their minds and feed their curiosity.
Next year, I'm expecting 23 new scholars.
My Project
Children have a natural curiosity and fascination about how things work.
I want to give my students the resources to investigate, observe, and discover more about their world.
Using the science viewers and building brick challenge kit, students will be able to work cooperatively in small groups to follow step-by-step directions and problem solve. My kindergartners will use cognitive skills to understand how and why objects work as they do.
Along with a more in depth knowledge of Science, Math, and Engineering, the students will improve their listening and speaking abilities through cooperative learning. Improving children's communication skills is crucial to ensuring their educational success.
