I have a diverse group of active Kindergarteners who love to learn, explore and move! This is my first year having a class that is boy heavy; as I have 15 boys and 8 girls. The dynamics of the classroom are quite different from years past as I find I need to keep these kids MOVING!
As our school moves towards being Future Ready, I am looking to really enhance the learning environment of my classroom to meet the needs of all my students.
I have a few students that would benefit from flexible seating options to help with their focus and attention. I would like to experiment with different options to see what can best meet the needs of my active kids. Research has shown that movement is the key to enhance learning environments!
My Project
As our school moves to be Future Ready, I am looking for ways to provide more flexible seating options in my classroom. My kids have already benefited from having a standing table to work at as well as a quiet work table in the library corner. I feel my more active friends will benefit from having a stool to sit on that will allow them to more while they work. In addition, I will have fewer tip overs accidents!
Flexible seating options are the wave of the future!
Future Ready is not just about technology, but incorporating alternative learning environments to support the different learning styles of our children. I am moving towards a classroom that provides flexible options to enhance student learning. Standing tables, floor seating, yoga balls, wobble stools... All of these options can enhance the different learning styles of my children to further their success!
