Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our students come from a variety of different ethnic backgrounds and live in a densely populated working class community. All of our students qualify for the free breakfast and lunch program. Our school serves students in grades 2nd-5th and provides not only a safe environment for them but fantastic teachers encourage them to dream about becoming trailblazers!
As a Title I school ,our students come from multilingual homes with diverse socio-economic backgrounds.
Our students are eager to become the first ones in their family to attend college and their enthusiasm for coming to school everyday is admirable. My students are determined to be scholars regardless of their personal hardships.
My Project
The diverse collection of poetry books I am requesting for my students will motivate and inspire my students to create their own poems. The Maya Angelou poetry books, Shel Silverstein collection of poetry books, Multicultural poetry books and bilingual poetry books will give my students the see and hear great examples of powerful poets.
By donating to our project, you will not only provide essential poetry books that will improve their language skills and exposure to different types of poems, you will ultimately support a new generation of poets.
The poetry books I have selected will enable my students to hold poetry books in their hands and see first hand how powerful poetry can be to motivate and inspire people!
