Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a K-12 public charter school in Utah. Over 40 percent of our students are on free and/or reduced lunches. However, we don't let that affect our learning and growth.

We test as one of the top schools in the state each year.

We do more with less, and it shows in how our students hunger for learning.

My students have special needs. Each one of them has different learning preferences. My goal is to challenge them and ensure their academic success.

My Project

Teaching students with special needs requires a lot of guided practice. Students who have access to guided reading books gain the fluency and confidence needed to become better readers. Having Guided Reading books in my classroom will provide ample opportunities for my students to practice problem-solving strategies, predicting, reading, and summarizing texts.

Providing a text that students can read with continuous support and coaching will lead to the ultimate goal, which is independent reading.The donations to this project will help to improve my students' fluency and comprehension skills needed to close the achievement gap.
