My Students

Our school is a public school in Washington. We serve many families from the military. Our school is in a rural area, but close to an urban setting. Our school is Title I and high poverty and most of our students are on the free and reduced lunch program.

Inside the classroom, we utilize structured learning in order to create an environment that fosters learning.

We use a wide variety of behavioral techniques in order to shape behavior into what is desirable.

My Project

These wobble stools will be used as another flexible seating option in my classroom, in an addition to the traditional classroom chairs and the yoga balls (which are starting to get holes and deflating).

Flexible seating promotes student choice, engagement, and independence for students.

This is very important for students in the cross-category setting, who may struggle with staying focused.

In addition to promoting academic success, seating options that engage core muscles keep kids healthy and strong. When students cannot slouch, they keep their bodies and brains healthy. Of course, it is also fun to wobble and stay active while working! We now have two seats that are hot ticket items!
