Future Healthcare Providers, Engineers and Scientists Need Gear for Research
Help me give my students headphones for their Chromebooks so they can complete chemistry, human anatomy and physiology, advanced placement biology and advanced placement chemistry lab and project work.
My students are rural farm and small-town low-income household kids. Sharp minds eager to learn but up against empty pockets most of the time. These kiddos will do good works if given the opportunity. I teach advanced placement biology, human anatomy, and physiology and ACT Science Prep/Science Literacy. Most of my students after graduating from high school get back to me and let me know they are doing well in nursing, clinical lab science, biomedical, engineering, chemistry, pharmacy, pre-med, physical therapy college etc. and thank me for pushing them hard in high school sciences and thank me for all the background knowledge I gave them in.
My real "pay" comes from knowing I am (AM) putting future, healthcare providers, Engineers, and Scientists out in the world who will solve our ever-pressing REAL-WORLD PROBLEMS.
My Project
My human anatomy and physiology, chemistry, advanced placement biology, advanced placement chemistry, and Science Literacy students spend time in class reading primary scholarly research articles, reading lab background information and completing biochemistry/engineering interactive projects and simulated labs which require at times listening to an embedded video/audio. Without headphones, students have difficulty concentrating from all the Chromebooks playing out loud all at one time.
With headphones attached to their Chromebook, students will be able to concentrate deeply on the information being presented to them.
Students will be able to better understand technical information while reading primary scholarly research articles, lab background information and will better understand the biochemistry/engineering project they are working on as well as their simulated lab investigations.
