Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are one of a kind this year! Our preschool class focuses really hard on making friends and interacting. My goal is to prepare them mentally, physically, and academically for kindergarten. We are a small school that helps children develop self-awareness and independence. My students come from low socioeconomics and face obstacles each day. It is important to have the basic materials in school they typically do not have at home. Each year we build on their social, emotional, and physical needs. Students in my class have ownership of their learning! I encourage my students to have their own voice and respect the voices of others. I take the time to know each of my students, and I care about their development.
My Project
My students have a passion for discovery and fossils. They love active discovery through hands-on exploring and play. The materials I am requesting will help make this happen. My class will be able to explore and learn through a variety of sensory materials to support social skills and positive interactions. For instance, the alphabet and number shells, as well as the dino dig will provide them with the opportunity to excavate while learning letters, numbers, and counting in sand. The float and find alphabet and numbers bubbles will give them the opportunity to learn through water play.
These materials will help to transform my students into biologist!
Currently, my class learns through hands-on discovery and play but I have limited resources in my sensory center and I would like to offer them more. Your donation will change my students' passion for discovery and help evolve their love of learning, starting at preschool and continuing through high school. By helping provide these sensory materials, you will be helping our class gain resources needed to actively engage our student with hands-on learning.
