My Students

A high percentage of my students come from low income households. The students live within driving distance of Oak Ridge National Laboratory but they do not have the opportunity to have a career in a technical area without a high quality high school instructional program. This will spark an interest in the students that they may not know they have. Many of the students feel that the only option they have is to obtain a minimum wage job like many of their parents.

My Project

My students are in STEM classes where engineering is taught. The second class they take is called Digital Electronics. Much of the Digital Electronics class involves programming. The programming software in the Lego Robots are the same that are used at the Oak Ridge National Lab. The basics learned by project will give the students an idea of how robotics and programming. This will help prepare the students to pursue post secondary education in the Engineering field.

The students will be able to learn how to program and they will also have an opportunity to teach the this to the younger students in my school district.
