Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are amazing people, and I've realized now, more than ever, that my passion is to build relationships with them and guide them to discover their interests and talents. Their diversity is something to be celebrated and makes our time together very special.
Even though I'm the teacher, I learn from my students every day!
They teach me patience, humor, and grace. There is not a lesson plan I could write that would perfectly capture what actually happens in our classroom as some students are active, some are shy, some make me laugh, and some make me cry because of what they have to endure. Each student is unique, and my goal is to cultivate everyone's curiosity and grit and to help them be the people they want to be!
My Project
Students in my classroom love to build and explore different types of blocks as they design bridges, cars, towers, animals, and other designs in our engineering stations. They use their creativity and design process skills to come up with something unique and purposeful. The Lego bricks and magnet cubes will allow students to freely explore their ideas and test out their designs with durable and child-appropriate mediums.
The students in my room are future engineers who just may design real bridges and buildings in the future!
Providing students with opportunities to engage in the engineering process with Legos and blocks in school will cultivate the skills needed to prepare them for their future careers. Thank you for supporting this endeavor!
