Our unique elementary school is a Title 1 school situated in the heart of the Willamette Valley, near Salem, Oregon. It is home to more than 400 fourth and fifth graders. Our small school district is surrounded by farmland, orchards, and vineyards. Many of our students do not have consistent access to technology in their homes.
Our students thirst for high-interest projects, technology, and trade-skill development.
As the world turns towards technology-based skills more and more, our students need the skills, and access to the technology, to compete in the 21st Century.
My Project
"Snap Circuits" kits will enable 220 fifth graders to benefit from hands-on experiences in electrical circuitry. "Snap Circuits" kits will be used to teach students about electricity, circuits, magnetism, coordinate graphing, switches, conductors, and more! "Snap Circuits" kits introduce all of these concepts in a fun and engaging format. ALL students, no matter their background or ability, will be able to access these highly-engaging kits.
Snap Circuits will find the future Electricians and Electrical Engineers, just waiting to be discovered!
As students work through the projects, they will be able to learn by their mistakes and successes- a true scientific process.
