This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach 16 wonderful 3-year-olds in Northeast Washington, DC. Many of them have difficult challenges coming into the classroom, but still bring beautiful imaginations and kindness with them each day. They are creative, caring, and loving of their peers and their teachers. They have created a warm and inviting community in our classroom. My students come from a high-poverty neighborhood, but they work incredibly hard to overcome their obstacles. They love listening to stories and are excited about learning more and more about how to use technology.
My Project
These materials will give my children a greater ability to learn about doctors, dentists and veterinarians.
The books and materials I have requested will allow my students to be fully immersed in learning through story time, centers and throughout the day with materials focused on learning about different kinds of doctors.
Many students have lots of experiences going to these types of doctors, but will now have the opportunity to learn about what those doctors do, what kind of materials they use and why, etc. Students will enjoy this unit so much because they are able to pretend to be the doctor and feel fully immersed with these wonderful new materials!
