I have the honor of teaching a unique group of students with emotional disabilities in a self-contained setting. We learn all academic subjects but, more importantly, we learn social skills, life skills, and coping skills. We replace behaviors that have worked with behaviors that will work a lifetime.

My teaching philosophy is to meet them where they are and take them where we want to go, the sky is the limit! All of my students have different backgrounds and diagnosis which impact their self-esteem and challenges, making each one a puzzle for me to figure out, support, lift up, and teach. My biggest goal is to help them understand themselves and gain the skills they will need to be lifelong learners and independent in life.

We want to make connections to Edison's trials, to circuitry, and to all the scientific articles we've read about prototypes and using ideas to solve the problems of our world today, from recycling bubble gum to eliminating trash in the oceans!
