Welcome to my room! My kindergarten students are the most inquisitive and curious children I've had the pleasure of teaching! They have a passion for science and social studies learning, especially learning about the big city they live in!
90% of my students live below the poverty line and many students have broken families or are living in some state of transition, so we need to build our support of community!
Due to the irregularity of many of their lives outside the classroom, they enter school with little knowledge of how a community functions. Because many of the students I serve enter school below grade level, it is vital to protect every minute of learning in order to prepare them for academic success!
This year my students are working on understanding roles in their community. Students will learn the importance of the roles we play in making our community function.
Your donation will go towards community worker costumes, diverse baby dolls, community books and storage for exploratory play.
Early childhood students learn best through play and inquiry based learning. These tools will provide my students with valuable learning opportunities that will enrich their social emotional experiences.
Students will use community worker costumes for dramatic role play. Colorful read alouds will provide information and serve as a resource for writing and discussing the topic of community.
