Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a first year teacher, I have not had the chance to meet my students for the 2018-2019 school year yet. I do know that my students will come from a low-income, high English language learner, high poverty district, and they are faced with challenges every day. When they come to my classroom, I want the chance to help them develop a community of learners who are academically proficient, demonstrate strong character, and exhibit self-confidence. I can’t wait to meet them come August.
My Project
My hardworking scholars need a way to organize their work. My students write narrative pieces, informational pieces, and persuasive pieces during Writer's Workshop, Guided Writing, Journaling, and so much more! However, many of my students struggle to create grade level pieces of writing.
Your generous donation will help make writing more fun and manageable for my students who will use these writing folders for all the different types of writing in the classroom.
The colorful writing process folders will be a fun new addition to our writing supplies. They will allow students to better organize their writing and better visualize the process of writing just like real authors. The composition notebooks will allow students to become authors as they “publish” their final pieces of writing in their composition notebooks. I am excited to unpack and get started!
