Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kindergarten students always came to school with a big smile and ready to learn. They were really starting to excel in reading, writing, and math before this pandemic hit. I always found myself so proud of these little kindergarteners.
We left for spring break on March 6 and never returned to school.
To say our lives have been upended is an understatement. You see I work for a title one school were more than 94% of our students receive a free lunch.
Most of our students do not have the technology to do our distance learning program. Due to this it is my goal and responsibility as a teacher to help them excel and maintain everything they worked so hard to learn this year. These kids and parents have enough to worry about, so I am requesting your help.
If you help me not only will these students continue to thrive academically, but their parents will have one less worry knowing their kids are not being overlooked.
My Project
Drawing is the first step in learning how to write and it is very important in developing a child's imagination, and his fine motor skills.
Please help me give my students some sketch pads, markers, and how to draw books so they can continue practicing at home.
My students and I love to draw and write. We would have a weekly lesson were I would show them how to draw a picture and then we would brainstorm what we could write about our picture. Right before we left for spring break, they had all turned into little Picassos. Their drawings were amazing and they didn't struggle as much to write complete sentences.
I want them to continue their writing skills at home so providing them with their own how to draw books will definitely motivate them to continue what we started in school.
When my project gets funded I will deliver these items to my students homes in a contact free manner. Thank you for your continuous support.
