My Students

When you enter our first grade classroom, you enter a world of fun and excitement for learning! I want my students to develop a love of learning in all areas. I want my kiddos to feel safe to branch out and try new things without a fear of failure!

My students are an amazing group of young learners who, despite some of their hardships at home, are eager to learn new things every day!

Our school is nestled in the middle of a very close-knit neighborhood where many of our families have had many generations go to the same school. Our school and our community take pride in working together to develop hard working, respectful individuals. My kiddos are energetic and love to explore new things. They love to share their learning with others and show off what they can do! It is so exciting to watch them be creative and try new things as writers. Most of my kids do not come from a strong highly educated family, but they still believe they can do whatever they set their minds to, and that is so very important for me to encourage. I believe in each and every one of my kiddos and I make sure they know that!

My Project

Watching my kiddos develop a love for reading and writing is so very important! Allowing them a special place to "show off" the books they create will help to build their self-esteem and encourage them to continue to grow as a writer. This bookcase will help give them a classroom library just for their personal books. Friends and visitors will be able to "check out" books the kids create, and this will allow them a chance to get feedback, both good and bad, which will help them become even stronger writers. It is amazing to introduce a variety of genres in writing and watch what the kids create. They get the opportunity to be authors and illustrators at such a young age, and I hope this will help them develop a love for writing! It is so important for kids to share with friends!

This bookcase will allow students a place to display their hard work.

They will be able to share their books like "real" authors and illustrators, and this will bring more excitement to their love for writing. I hope that they will be able to take even more pride in their work knowing it will be read and enjoyed by friends and visitors. I can't wait to see all their books ready for "check out" in our classroom library.
