My Students
I teach special needs four-year-old students in a district-based, Title I school. My students have a wide variety of needs, such as communication, social-emotional, fine and gross motor, cognitive, and behavioral. I also serve children with autism. The majority of my students come from a low-economical background. Coming to school on a regular basis is an escape where the children can play and grow while learning, strengthening their social skills, self-help skills, as well as follow a daily schedule and routine.
My Project
One of the best ways for our students to express their feelings and emotions is through art. Our pre-kindergarten kiddos absolutely love our art center, but it is lacking in variety.
Processed art allows students to create art projects the way they see it, not the way someone tells them it is supposed to look. With the items in this project, our students will be given more options to help them create their own personal masterpieces. They will use the card stock, paint, paint brushes, colored pencils, googly eyes, and stamp pads will give them a variety of options to help them express their creativity in their own individual ways.
