Established in 1906, Central High School is the oldest high school in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
It was founded as Tulsa High School and was located in downtown Tulsa until 1976. The school now has a 47-acre campus in northwest Tulsa near the Thomas Gilcrease Institute of History and Art. Tulsa Central is part of the Tulsa Public Schools, Oklahoma's largest school district, and serves students in grades 9 through 12. Since 1997, it has served as a fine and performing arts magnet school.
Tulsa Central currently serves an extremely diverse student population of around 500 individuals. Over 88 percent of these students would be considered economically disadvantaged. Tulsa Central is where artistic expression meets a growth mindsets, leading to endless opportunities.
My Project
Futsal is similar to soccer, and while it is very popular in European countries, it is rapidly growing in popularity in the US. Every continent has a professional league for futsal. Now, Dallas Maverick's owner Mark Cuban owns a principal ownership stake in the Professional Futsal League, which is a new league recognized by FIFA that will begin playing nationally here in the near future.
Futsal is a high scoring game with goals scored every 6 minutes on average and shots taken every 43 seconds on average!
There are some rule differences such as no throw-ins, offsides, or even out-of-bounds! Futsal goals are small, and futsal balls are equivalent to a size 4 soccer ball (smaller than a full, size 5 soccer ball). Futsal balls are slightly heavier than a regular soccer ball, and are made with less "bounce," which makes them friendly and safer to use in indoor environments such as hard gym floors. Instead of playing 11 v 11, futsal is 5 v 5. Futsal is a great indoor supplement for soccer when the weather outside is not permitting!
Our plan is to secure the necessary equipment for our entire school and soccer team to have access to the equipment necessary for our students to kick it!
