My students live in a small town in Northern California. They are eager learners who love school. Each of my students comes to school with a smile every day and is ready to learn. I have to bring experiences to the classroom because we have limited access to some of the experiences others students might have living is larger communities. Living in a small community has its advantages, but it also has a few disadvantages. One disadvantage is that we can't drive 4 hours to go to an art museum. Donor's Choose is a great way for me to give my students a variety of opportunities in our classroom.
My Project
With these supplies from Delphi Glass, each student will make their own fused glass plate to take home. We will use the clear glass for the base and the colored glass packs for the design. We need the Morton Cutting System to cut the glass and the Morton Mini Surfaces to work on, so we are less likely to get cut from small pieces of glass. I am excited to give my students the opportunity to work with glass and explore an art medium that they have never used before. I have done this project for several years, and it is always the highlight of the year for my students and me. I love to sit with them as they get to use their creativity using glass. This project is something that they will keep for their whole lives to remember our kindergarten class.
