My preschool classroom is part of the Great Start Readiness Program. This is a state-funded grant program. I have 16 diverse students in my classroom each year. My students are all at-risk students either due to low-income or other factors such as being English Language Learners, or having Speech and Language delays. There are many different ethnicities within my student population as well. My goal is to get each and every one of my students ready for Kindergarten each year.
My Project
We have a very old table and chairs in our dramatic play interest area that are plastic and falling apart. Our dramatic play area also needs a place for play food and other imaginitive items to be stored. We also really need cubbies for students to store their personal belongings and paperwork. This helps them have their own space within the classsroom that is theirs. We have a very tight budget and use it to buy classroom supplies and materials every year and furniture gets overlooked year after year. We desperately need an upgrade of furniture within our preschool classrom.
