Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A full 90% of our students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Many of our families do not make enough to provide a lot of the necessities that the family requires, including adequate meals outside of school.

The library is an integral part in our students lives.

A lot of our students don't have access to their own books or a way to get to the public library. Being able to come and check out books at the school library not only helps them be better readers, but it also provides a form of entertainment that they may not have without them.

My Project

Our students come to the library on a weekly basis. They take their time pouring through the shelves of books to find the ones that get them eager to read. After they have chosen the books they want to check out, they get time to sit and read.

Having durable tables that are comfortable to sit at will make that experience a lot more enjoyable.

I want all of our students, from Kindergarten to sixth grade, to enjoy coming to the library and I know that new furniture will not only make them feel more relaxed and cozy, but they will also get a sense of excitement at having something new.
