My students are some of the most fabulous first graders I have ever taught. They love conversing with each other and myself, participating in brain breaks, and laughing. 22 out of 27 of my students got up on stage to perform in the school variety show, and they did an amazing job!
We are constantly moving around the classroom while learning and work very hard.
My students come from various areas around Gaithersburg, MD and various backgrounds. I have 16 boys and 11 girls in my classroom which makes for a very busy room! We do a lot of collaborative work and try to be as active as possible during the learning process.
My Project
Our flexible seats are AWESOME and we love them, but we are still using a lot of desks in the classroom and it has become quite the crowded space. We would like to be able to get rid of some of the desks in order to open up the space more and make it less cluttered.
The table and standing desks will allow the students to move around the classroom more freely and become more independent learners.
They will have even more of a freedom of choice which is very important for first-graders. Not to mention, the adults in the classroom will have an easier time navigating the room without obstacles!
